What Light Therapy Can Help With

LED light therapy can support the body’s natural healing processes and may be helpful for a range of conditions affecting muscles, joints and skin.

Light therapy is commonly used to support:

• Muscle and joint pain
• Inflammation and swelling
• Arthritis discomfort
• Sports injuries
• Slow healing injuries
• Scar healing
• Skin concerns such as acne
• Bruising and soft tissue injuries
• General recovery and tissue repair

Light therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that can be used alongside massage or as a standalone treatment depending on your needs.

Types of Light Therapy Available

Celluma LED light therapy uses different wavelengths of light to target specific conditions affecting muscles, joints and skin.

Near Infrared Light Therapy – Pain and Recovery Support

Near infrared light therapy is most commonly used to support pain relief and recovery from injury or strain.

This setting may be helpful for supporting relief from:

• Arthritis discomfort
• Muscle pain
• Joint pain
• Back pain
• Neck pain
• Headaches
• Fibromyalgia discomfort
• Nerve-related pain
• Sports injuries
• General muscular tension

Many clients choose light therapy to support recovery between massage sessions or to help manage ongoing discomfort.

Red Light Therapy – Skin Repair and Tissue Healing

Red light therapy supports skin repair and tissue healing. It can help improve the appearance of skin tone and support recovery from minor skin damage.

This setting may help support healing of:

• Skin damage caused by sun exposure
• Acne-related skin irritation
• Minor scarring
• General skin repair

Blue Light Therapy – Acne Support

Blue light therapy is commonly used to support acne management by targeting bacteria associated with breakouts.

It may also be used alongside red light therapy to support clearer skin and reduce irritation.

I use the Celluma LED system, a professional-grade device widely used in clinical settings. This medically recognised system is FDA-cleared in the USA and designed to deliver safe and effective light therapy treatments.

How Light Therapy Sessions Are Provided

Light therapy sessions are typically provided as focused 30-minute treatments targeting one specific area of the body, such as the knee, shoulder or lower back.

The device is designed to treat one area at a time, making it ideal for targeted pain relief and recovery support.

Light therapy can also be combined with massage where appropriate. For example, a session may include 30 minutes of massage followed by 30 minutes of light therapy applied to a specific problem area.

For skin or acne-related concerns, regular sessions are usually recommended. Many clients choose a course of treatments, typically twice per week for several weeks, to achieve the best results.

Course Bookings Available

For clients requiring multiple sessions, course bookings are available.

When booking a course of six light therapy sessions and paying in advance, a 10% discount is applied.

Course bookings are particularly helpful for skin concerns such as acne, or ongoing pain conditions where repeated sessions may provide the best results.

I am always happy to discuss your needs and recommend an appropriate treatment schedule.

How Light Therapy Works

LED light therapy works by delivering specific wavelengths of light into the tissues to support the body’s natural healing response.

Different wavelengths of light can help stimulate cellular activity, encourage circulation and support tissue repair. This can help reduce inflammation, relieve discomfort and promote recovery from injury or strain. It has been proven to speed up injury repair by 100%.

The treatment is completely non-invasive and painless. Most clients simply relax while the light is applied to the treatment area for a set period of time.

Light therapy can be used as a standalone treatment or alongside massage to support recovery and overall comfort.

What Happens During a Visit

When I arrive, we’ll begin with a short conversation about your symptoms, goals and any areas of discomfort. This helps me position the light therapy device correctly for the best results.

You will be comfortably positioned on the massage couch while the light therapy device is placed over the treatment area. The device is designed to treat one targeted area at a time, such as the knee, shoulder or lower back.

During the session, you may feel a gentle warmth, but the treatment is painless and relaxing. Most clients use this time to rest while the light is working.

Light therapy may be provided as a standalone treatment or combined with massage, depending on your needs.

At the end of the session, I’ll provide aftercare advice and discuss whether further sessions may be helpful.
